PC/MAC BETA TESTING IS OVER!

There will not be Beta sesions in future. Be ready for the game launch 4.04.2014. Pre-order the game now and receive 5 days early access.

If you are lucky enough to be selected for BETA testing you will be among the first to enter the world of Elder Scrolls Online. It is a great honor and a great responsibility, but requires you do your best to ultimately improve the game. Thiugh ESO testing is finished thare are many other games you can test, for example you can participate in Beta Testing of ArcheAge.

Errors and Bugs

Please, read before posting 310, 301 and similar Error report in comments:

* Most of the errors during ESO beta tests are occurring because of server issues. Such errors are occurring not on your side and can’t be fixed by you. All you need is to wait for the ESO team to fix the trouble. Don’t forget that it’s a stress test and such server behavior was predictable.

*If the loading bar stops and you don’t see progress – try to log in later. Something is wrong with the server. It may be locked by developers to fix something.

Error: Attempted to create character with invalid race or alliance.
It may occur sometimes. I could overcome it by shutting down the game and taking a small break. It is unknown why this Error may occur.

My account name is everywhere on the screen when I am playing. Is there any way to fix this?
This is not a bug. It’s a special protection created by ZeniMax to avoid beta leaks. There is an NDA and testers are not allowed to publish screenshots, videos and other content from the beta. This protection helps to find out who was the author of the video or screenshot and ban him.

Where to report bugs?

You can do it right in the game by typing a special command. If I am not mistaken the command looks like /bug If it doesn’t work you can ask other players in the game and they will help you with it.

Where to sign up for Beta?

Here is a link to the official page where you can find the sign-up form. Quote from the official ESO website:

"You can now officially sign up for The Elder Scrolls Online beta program starting today.

If selected, you will be one of the first people to embark upon the newest Elder Scrolls adventure, and help us beta test The Elder Scrolls Online. Please be aware that this is just beta sign-ups. Once our first beta test begins, we’ll make sure everyone knows—watch our official website, Facebook, Google+, and Twitter for an announcement about the first round of invites."

The sign-up process is not difficult. All you need to do is follow the link above and fill in the sign-up form. You will be asked to write some Personal Information and describe your gaming experience. After you click “Complete Beta Application” a confirmation email should be sent to your inbox. This e-mail is important because it confirms that your data was successfully received by the ESO team.

Note: The “System Profile” field is for PC/Mac owners only. If you want to participate in testing for consoles – skip this field. Read more here.

Confirmation e-mail

Some people have faced problems during the Beta sign-up process, and have been left unsure about whether their application was received. The easiest way to check your current status is to find the confirmation e-mail.

If you received the confirmation e-mail you're in good shape. Your data was received and your name is in the database. All you need to do now is to wait (and pray) for the invitation.

If you don't see the confirmation e-mail in your Inbox please check your spam folder. If you can't find it there than try to search by subject: “The Elder Scrolls Online Beta” or by sender “noreply@zenimaxonline.com”. If this does not help and you still can't find the confirmation e-mail try to sign up once more.

Send your application until the confirmation e-mail arrives. If you're still having difficulties try to use a different e-mail address. But Do not send multiple applications if you received the confirmation, this won't improve your chances of getting into the BETA.

Console BETA

As you probably know, Elder Scrolls Online will also be available for consoles. Thus the question of BETA testing for console owners is also important. We will now outline the information about how to sign up for console BETA.

Every console owner can take part in ESO BETA testing. There are 2 separate groups of testers: PC/Mac and Console. It must be noted that the two versions of the game are not connected and there will be separate servers for these platforms on release. All you need to participate in the console BETA is to complete the sign-up form at the official website of the game. Ignore “System Profile” field (this field is required for PC / Mac owners) and mention that you are an owner of PlayStation 4 or Xbox One in “Extra” field. The PC beta version of the game will not work with consoles, so you will be given a special version of the game. Other rules and procedures of BETA testing for console owners are the same.

Elder Scrolls Online will be released for PC, Mac, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Other platforms can not participate in testing.

FAQ

What is the testing period?
It is a special period before the release when a restricted group of players have access to the game. They play a lot, and make bug reports if any errors are found. People in this group are the first who will see the real game.

How do I participate in BETA testing?
How do I get an Elder Scrolls Online BETA account?
You need to sign up first. Here is a link where you can find the sign-up form: Sign up now! If you are well motivated and have experience you are welcome. Everybody has a chance to join.

Please, add noreply@zenimaxonline.com to your address book in order not to miss any information.

What are the requirements for taking part?
You must be at least 18 years old. This is the only requirement. Just sign up and fill all required information. Be patient as there will be many beta events and developers will decide when to invite you.

How does my hardware influences the chance to be selected?
It's important to remember that it does not matter what hardware you have. In order to properly test the game it needs to be tested on different PCs . So don't worry you don't need to upgrade your PC to take part.

How do I find out whether I am selected or not?
You will receive an e-mail from noreply@zenimaxonline.com. There will be many different events and you will receive e-mails with a notification each time you are selected for the event. Just understand that developers are not planning to invite all people in each event. They will be selecting participants for every event according to their needs. For instance they may reach a point when they need to test how the server handles large amounts of traffic and so would invite a lot of people.

I have successfully signed-up. What are my chances?
It's difficult to say as it is up to the developers requirements and may simply come down to luck, however, developers have said in their official podcast that they will try to involve as many people as possible.

Will there be open beta? Yes. It will take place but after the Closed BETA.

When will the Open BETA start?
The game is set to be released in Spring 2014, so we expect the Open BETA to be sometime at the beginning of next year (around several months before release)

Some words about game developers and the necessity of a BETA period.

We realise that there are some fans who are reluctant to trust the team of Zeni-Max Online with the franchise and are worried about ESO not feeling like an Elder Scrolls game. What many don't realise is that Zeni-Max Online is a sister of Bethesda (they have the same owner), and, one of their main points is that they aim to bridge the gap between elder scrolls and an MMO, so it should still feel very much like an Elder scrolls game. So for all you TES fans out there who worry about how it will come out, rest assured that the people at ZeniMax Online will do a great job at adapting TES into an MMORPG.

Anyway the game must be tested by real players, and if you're lucky enough to be chosen you have a chance to be beneficial in the development of ESO. You can use your in-game experience to help make ESO better. Only real people can help to find and identify gameplay issues and bugs. The gameplay itself isn't the only issue and there are many areas which need BETA testing to confirm they function smoothly. Accounts and servers also require a lot of attention, in-fact, many of the first BETA's a game runs are to check if there account creation and login systems work properly .

It's through BETA testing, and the feedback that players give to ZeniMax, which will improve the functionality and general gameplay so that on release there aren't any major bugs (we hope).

Ok, so I played a coupla hours of the beta. Where do I post my BUGS and comments about my experience?
I had a few screen freezes when talking to NPCs and had to exit and relaunch. I found my self running on automatic in most battles vs creatures. It was very annoying. I never teamed up with anyone and don't even know how to do it. there needs to be a more complete players guide ASAP. along with a keyboard layout of all key functions. I want to like this… don't turn people off with bad experiences.

This is how beta is done lol no one can show whats not suppose to be shown about a game no one can talk about and this game is not even playable well im sure there making some progress for sure! rather then say your lucky they need an open beta so the players who love this game can give their input and things can be fixed if I can only play for two hours but cant get on really their aint nothing being fixed so the launch will delayed due to the fact they know they have a long ways to go I dont mind Playing a game half done tons of bugs who cares we know its not done this why I dont like the sound of this all mmos would let people play it out and fix everything and it would be fluent this is poor business

I was getting that error too. I think the reason for it is because the servers are down until the stress test starts. Essentially you can't play until that day.

Multiple graphics settings, multiple attempts, uphill struggle.

First, it didn't update… I tried to do it as admin… than I used repair… closed client and reopened...I waited some hours, because nothing happened… than,, UPdate showed 100%, but it wasn't able to click on «Play»...Now, I receive Error 210… something with manifest....don't know what this means and how to fix it.....:(

  I would certainly hope so, I'm stuck there as well. Just after 2h of Error 103 during login. Seems the stress test was necessary to figure out some bottlenecks.

Comon people dont complain try to play the game as much as you can it is an beta

i had the character loading screen freeze also just be patience and it will load most of the times

and if u get the error when logging in the game press ignore once

for sofar i am at the khenarthi's roost and loading into this map took like 20-30min and i thought the first time this wont work but now it did work…

I've noticed a bug with the in-game dialogue with NPC's, when a convo ends it will have the 'goodbye' option, if I press it the dialogue options disappear but the screen stays zoomed in on the NPC as though its still in dialogue. There isn't anything I can do to exit the dialogue screen apart from log out. This doesn't happen on every convo but maybe on half. How do I report a bug?

Anyone have an issue with their mouse? I can't play the game due to it making my character look straight up in the sky when I move my mouse, or click any mouse button. I stay stuck looking straight up, and have no idea what is causing it, or how to fix it.

After I finished talking to the dragon priest in the skybound (forgot name) barrow so i can proceed to kill the necromancer, I got stuck in the dialog box after i closed it. Teleporting out would cause me to be stuck under the map

Glitch I have found. Yesterday my ESO crashed whilst completing 'Shriven in Coldharbour'. I used the teleport to escape with the prophet, but game got stuck on loading screen. Exited game and went back in, played a few hours more, but the quest is stuck at 'use teleport to escape...' and game won't progress. Okay so I have been invited to the weekend beta stress test this upcoming weekend. I wanted to know if that means people can only play this weekend? or if after the weekend you can continually play until the beta is over and the game is release to the public for everyone to play? I am getting a disk space error when installing the game. I have 45gig free on my SSD. The download starts fine and goes for awhile, maybe 30% than craps out and I get the error. I have installed it on my other drive that has 800gigs free and it works fine. The required space says 30gigs, so that is a little disappointing.

  From my limited knowledge with Betas, it all depends on the company and the game. Typically there are a few Betas, I have friends that have been playing in all the others, this is my first invite though. I would assume after this weekends stress test, they will probably have a 2 week beta to test longevity of the servers as well as let players progress a little further than is possible in a 3 day test. After that the game will go quiet until release. Granted the console betas will start at some point.
  They appear to be doing a progressive Beta, so now that you have been invited once I imagine you will be allowed in all future Betas for PC/MAC

Errm don't wanna sound all Noob or anything but I understand the BETA starts at 12 Noon EST Eastern, and here in the UK that is 17:00pm so the servers are not live till then.

  If the game is already downloaded you can try to run it from the launcher folder directly without using launcher. Just run eso.exe

        If I were you I would fully uninstall the game, destroy all game folders and download it again. Maybe there was something wrong during downloading or installation. On my oppinion this may help.

        Yeah, I'm afraid that is the solution. The download is so freaking huge, I think I will end up missing this beta run. I've got the game working on my work computer (which sucks hardware wise). I think I'm going to copy the files to a flash drive and paste them to my personal computer. Hopefully, that will work instead of having to reinstall.

        Im having the same problem. Everything is up to date but i've resorted to uninstalling and reinstalling. What a bummer since I already had reserved a few hours today to test the game. The installation seemed to have been fine earlier as I could load the client and attempt to log in (to get the error that beta was not running). Hopefully this resolves itself after a lengthy download. I'll let you know how it goes!

Yea servers are down. I never got past character creation. Whenever I hit the «create» button nothing happened. Then I would press it a few times in a row and it would give me an error message and bring me back to the login screen. SWEET!

How long will this «maintenance» take? Is it worth waiting and logging in every 5 mins to see if I can ever actually get into the game? Probably not. Waste of my time. I would REALLY love to help beta test this game. Doesn't look like I will get that chance. Guess ill go play some more warband.

Same here. Initially everything worked fine, until the part where I had created my character, and after pressing create nothing would happen. SO, I decided to be patient and only click " create " 1 time. Then after about 2 minutes it said " this name has already been taken ". I started to change the name, pressed create, and it shut down. I keep getting error 201, so I can't even log in. Apparently, my user name Joss_Card has an illegal character in it (the underscore) which is odd because the accounts Page clearly said that underscores and hyphens were acceptable. I immediately contacted the support but obviously they're very busy. I'm hoping they can fix my username so it works though I don't understand why that's not something that I could change myself.
But the logo Splash screens are very pretty and the credits are entertainingly Concise.

I dont get a Error or anything, my character is just stuck in the past. You know that quest where you get a vision and play as an orc in Betnikh? Well, i logged out when i was inside the vision. Ok I realize that this is beta but I think that you might want to have a solid client installation before you try to stress test the servers. So far I have tried to install on two different platforms, ASUS ROG laptop G74 and a mid 2011 iMac. Both have better than minimum video and enough power/space to run. On the PC I installed it on Thursday ready to jump on Friday...no go...I get an application exception error on eso.exe in the Windows log. Maybe it's time to clean this box up with a rebuild that's ok the Mac is pretty clean. Tried the Mac and the installer crapped out sometime after it only had 5.5gb to download. I hit reopen and install and it wants to download the whole thing again...at this point I think I am not playing this weekend.

For those having bugs and being unsure what to expect as it is there first time on the ESO beta remember the following things.

1. Its a beta there will be bugs. At this stage the core features will be pretty much completed, but the testing of the back end infrastructure needs weekends like this.
2. Bug report everything you think is odd, broken, or doesnt work in the way you expect.
3. Relax on the last beta i played just under 60 hours, this time ive managed 3 hours. You wont be alone in having issues.

Nejc, download issue is potentially linked to the sheer number of people accessing their content, its a bug, but its what server stress tests are for.

Kakashi, the last few beta tests have been focussed on stress testing. The minor cosmetic bugs, and quest bugs will be fixed as part of the main game polish, making sure it actually loads for people on launch day is more important.

Nikita, check the official support page, most error codes are there.

Wayne, see answer for Nejc. It may also be more PC optimised than mac at the moment as well, bare with it, it's worth it.

Valentin, they have acknowledged there is a area transition issue at the moment, but that is again the reason for the stress test.

During my first hours, I encountered a few errors:
1) An UI Error I could not dismiss (happened throughout my session)
2) After talking to a merchant and exiting conversation, my character remained locked to the view
I do not remember the location's name, but it is the city at the beginning of the Daggerfall Covenant Quest and I have screen prints with the bugs.

  its a beta to test to let them know the problems not to play the game… to find the glitches… I done final fantasy beta and its was the same… but it helped them to get the game adjusted… that is the whole point… to this BETA..not free play… Give it a chance… or leave…

getting error 201 (7:1:1060:1007) when trying to login (login service has failed).
the error seems to be local and has nothing to do with overloading on servers (the error jumps Immediately after i try to login and no communication is seen via wireshark at that moment...)

I've got a similar problem as Janne: Yesterday i wanted to attend a pvp campaign, but got stuck in the loading screen. After a while, i got an error:«Transfer failed». Since then i'm not able to log in that character.

  Agreed, e.g., the beta for SWTOR was much smoother and the feedback from the developers was… well, compared to ESO, there was some :-D… In addition, my code is refused by the beta forum, that's so funny. No information at all. I hope they'll at least ask the people after this beta test if they enjoyed waiting for the server(s) to go up and how they liked the music while waiting in the queue :-)

In Coldharbour after the first crash I could not see what was attacking me most of the time, I couldn't even see what Lyris was attacking
I got stuck in a non-generated area in Coldharbour (in the river's end where a ton of rocks are) when it generated
I can try to walk over bridges and fall through and not be able to get out

A little graphical bug — In the at the very begginning in the undercoft I wielded dual daggers and there was a light trail coming off the left dagger. Double tapped esc and it went away.

After speaking with Lyris, I got to the part where she mentions that I'm called the Soul Shriven. I alt-tabbed out of Windowed mode to use Facebook, and found that I couldn't click anything. My mouse cursor was highlighting things and telling me I could click, but nothing was responding. I went back to the game and the window was frozen for a moment, and when it resumed, I still couldn't click. The keys responded fine but even though the cursor highlighted things, clicking did nothing. Couldn't look around, couldn't click, etc. The only clicking that worked was on the ESC menu. I've just logged in and while it's working, it gets a little testy when I try to move to other windows. It's like it isn't happy unless I have the game as the only thing running ever.

1. very often it happens to me that all PCs and NPCs disappear (I can't see them) and quitting and logging in again doesn't help.
2. In mage questline, when I got to Cheesmonger's hollow, guy inside tell me to go through doors he will open, but he doesn't actually open them and quest cannot be finished.

Hello! I sent in an application, I am over 18, I've been playing since Arena came out, and I am a huge fan of TES, and when I heard ESO was coming I was very excited. I sent in an application, and I am currently awaiting acceptance/denial. I run on a Macbook Pro 15", Retina Display, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB Storage, I would be a good edition to ESO because most players run on PCs, and not many beta testers run on Mac, so I would be a useful edition. I've beta tested for 5 other games (Dota 2, World of Warcraft, Minecraft, ROBLOX, League of Legends). I've played various RPGs but they fall in comparison to ESO. I'm one of the biggest Elder Scroll fans out there, my childhood and my teenage years have been completed by Elder Scrolls, I would love to beta test; I will not fail you!

Really bad experience. Took so long to download the game. Problems with firewalls, client stopped downloading etc. Eventually got it downloaded and of course it was too late! Missed my window for the BETA test. Doesn't bode well for the game itself. Might be giving this a miss.

Im working on a mac and I got the launcher downloaded and the game downloaded (took overnight to load it all) and then when i click play it crashes and gives me a crash report. Anyone else have this issue? I have the crash log if anyone wants to check it out.

I got an official response as to why I get a grey play button and no game loading.

Please access the UserSettings.txt file located in My Documents/The Elder Scrolls Online and preform the following steps.
-Open the UserSettings.txt with notepad
-Press Ctrl + F and search for RequestedNumThreads
-You should be on the line, SET RequestedNumThreads «X» (X being what ever number is there)
-Edit the Value to «0»
-Save and close the document
-Restart the launcher and attempt to launch the game

The file doesn't even EXIST anywhere on my computer. So I can't exactly access it to edit it. There's a repair function (I tried using it) that checks for problems with files but apparently it doesn't detect if there's missing files.

Could someone who has this file paste the text in it here? That way people who are having this problem can try to fix it by creating a UserSettings.txt file and pasting the text into it.

  Erin, you have to have this file. It is created as soon as you run the Beta launcher. You may be looking in the wrong place. Do you have windows 7?

Yet its not running in the background. Tried pc resets. Uninstalling and re-installing. Tried running as admin. Yet it still wont run. Any ideas what the issue is and how it can be fixed?

Playing the beta on a retina Macbook, the game loads fine but at one point during game play the screen is locked when i move only a small square at the bottom left moves everything else is locked. I can't see where i'm going! Very annoying. I tried to change the video settings but so far nothing.
Anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix?

  I also have this problem, if its in the tutorial bit, just try to push through that one stage and it clears up. I also experience it in proper gameplay — Ive noticed that it always starts with me when its raining, so i just have to wait for the rain to stop and it clears up — just do crafting in that time or go inside seems to bide the time!!! Hope this helps!

I can log in just fine and play without any major issues other than the ones everyone is talking about, «reloadui after talking with merchant or crafting». However, my major issue is that I can't play for more than like 20 minutes without getting disconnected with «unknown error», I can log back in within 20-30 seconds (so long as there isn't a queue) but it's really frustrating. Anyone else have this issue/have a fix? It's happening on my laptop and my desktop.

I time out every 1 — 2 minutes, and end up with an unknown error. When I am able to play, sometimes it lags so that I'm able to move, but every other command is unresponsive including talking to NPCs. At this point, it will go to «unknown error» or sometimes everything around me moves around super fast and the commands become responsive again for a little while.

I keep freezing every time I talk to an NPC. The game still continues around me, but I can't move. To get out, I have to log out and them log back in, but the issue isn't fixed. I can't really accept quests if I don't talk to NPCs.....How do I fix this?

  CTRL + Space + Mouse1!
  
  Sometimes when i enter a new world i get stuck aswell and i try this.
  
  The /reloadui can work sometimes. Just press «Enter» Then write: /reloadui
  
  You can even try to hit: Shift + Ctrl + Mouse1/Mouse2!

  Side effect of too many players talking to an NPC at one time. It often happens at vendors/bank. Part of the ESO Beta «stress test». I've found that logging into mail using the " ' key (default) — found just to the left of enter, always solves that problem. Of course you have to restart your conversation afterwards, but the game is no longer frozen.

  I don't think this is a MacBook Pro issue. My girlfriend downloaded the software just fine on her MacBook Pro in 4 hours. It put the downloaded file in a funny place though. Also, the software and user interface for it are much more buggy than my PC. Luckily there are plenty of ways to work around it.

played ESO for 2 betas now and let me say that over all I love it. That being said their is still a lot of work to be done before launch. So far I have 2 characters each in a different alliance. My first character was a dark elf. I have made past Devon's watch and into the volcano. My second character is a Khajiit. Both are dragon-knights. What I have experienced this far is as follows: 1. there are many objects that have a white E and should be able to be used but no matter how many times you press it it never works. 2. Quests. many of the quests are bugged. My Khajiit can not finish the investigate the temple quest because you can not disable the traps after the spirit leaves the researcher. Other quests either have people not there when they should be, or it will not progress to the next stage. Most of those are fixed after a reload UI or shut down and reboot. 3. I bought a horse, in Devon's watch because I preorded the game and it allows you to purchase an imperial horse for 100g, and then teleported to a friend who just started playing. He had just left Molag bal's lair and was on the first island( for the dark elf alliance) and my horse does not interact well with buildings. In fact, it seems to run through them. When he was ready to leave the island through the (tomb or temple which ever it is) I was following him until I went through the steps and fell and then somehow all of a sudden I was froze in the sky falling. I logged out and back in and was still there except this time I finished falling. I fell into water and died. But i did get an achievement out of it for being slaughtered. lol Also while riding my horse in the open terrain it will just stop after awhile and if I sit there long enough the game will catch up and load the obstacle that is in my way. Over all though I have to say I love the game and hope these issues are fix before the big release. Thank you

The game has a very nice scene, art, nature, skill combination dependent on player's wish, and combat stlye…
I wanna build a combat sorcerer, with heavy armor and shield, but shield only works with one-handed weapons, this made me think sorcerer can't wear a shield… But you can also build a character with anytype you wish, this is something many online games don't do, games mostly limit players with some stuff but this game gone so far of creativity. This also bring a lot of instability, im really confused when i must spend my level points and skill points… I hope they make a good re-talenting system otherwise we will be have to re-create a lot of characters since we find the perfect one for us.

Recent Beta Tester here, I'm going to assume this is where we post about our experience so here goes, overall I had quite an enjoyable experience. I was a tad disappointed that you were forced into an alliance based on your race. As someone who has thoroughly researched Bosmer lore it doesn't make sense that the Bosmer would ally themselves with Altmer other than the «elven» factor but I'll save that theory for the forums. Although I am glad I was put into the Dominion because RAZ!!! Lol. In all the bugs I experienced weren't too terrible. The Phaer Plague quest in the second part where you talk to the skeptical mother and have to go into the quarantine zone is bugged. Amur or whatever didn't show up. There were players waiting over 10 minutes by the time I got there. Another bug that people have mentioned already was the «character freeze» as I call it. I couldn't move my character after talking to certain NPCs (not just merchants). At first I'd Logout and load back in but then I discovered opening my Mail would give me back control. There was another quest bug concerning Advisor Norion. I couldn't choose the «I'll take a look» dialogue option at first but talking to him again fixed it. One of the most irritating glitches was when I'd fall through or walk completely THROUGH a bridge or ramp. I think it's from not waiting for the area to load completely but still… I tried logging out and logging back in to fix the problem but I'd appear right back where I'd gotten stuck. I've paid lots of gold just to recall back to a Wayshrine because of this. At one point it was costing me more to recall because of this than I was making in Quests! And actually I don't think it was an area loading problem because I would be running next to people when this happened and I'd only be the one stuck. Maybe it's my computer but I bought a brand new laptop this semester and I had no other issues loading scenery, etc. Anyways, the only other crashing issue I had was the game crashing back to the login screen and then giving me the 201/200 error but I pushed through it by logging in a couple more times and it fixed itself. It only happened once so maybe it was just overloaded briefly since it was the middle of the last Beta day of that test. Overall, thumbs up! It's not as good as Skyrim or Oblivion in some respects and, this is going to sound dumb but, I couldn't find where to get the intimidation perk? Is it only race-specific? If so then the quests where people who can't use the perk have to pay/bribe should have a bigger ending payout. I spent like 100+ gold getting NPCs out of debt and didn't make anywhere near as much when I finished the quest. Not bothersome I was just throwing that out there.

A very brief statement after playing this weekends beta.

I'm a huge fan of the «first person» experience and it seems most of the recent MMO's have been catering to the 3rd person… which I've found to be contrary to what I liked about MMORPG's. I too liked the Diablo style 3rd person taking on horde's of enemies back in the day and there is a place in my heart for that style of play. But what is up with MMORPG's starting to go that route? To the point where they have started to leave behind the days of immersion into a virtual fantasy world, which was what I always thought an MMORPG was supposed to be.

Back in the day, 3rd person was for Diablo style, or RTS games… and EQ was your first person immersion into a virtual reality fantasy… I liked them all, but for very different reasons. Since then it seems that 3rd person style has invaded all MMORPG's and I have really missed that first person experience.

So I'm very happy to say that ESO brings that back and reminds us of that feeling of being in a virtual fantasy world, which is what I was expecting and always wanted from an ES MMO.

I'm trying to help my friend who can't even get past the initial ESO log-in page to just sign up for an ESO account. Does ANYONE know what would cause this problem? He's on a pc and this page just keeps refreshing no matter what browser he's using. I even went ahead and set up the account for him and the page just kept refreshing even after he entered the username/pw I created for him.

I haven't been able to get much help from ESO Help.

and alot of people are not gonna buy the game because of this!

Keep the game at same price… But make a 12-Months payment for €30,- or less.

Where to start… ok, couple of weeks ago… joined beta, played on us server. 4-5 hours no problems. Then I started getting kicked after 10-30 seconds of play. Eventually I gave up. Eso support writes back and says next time you play beta you'll be able to play on EU server… sure enough, login last night, popup says you can now play on the EU megaserver… naturally Error 209/210… uninstall, reinstall 26 gb of data later… thats 4 hours of downloading… I'm playing on the EU server… 2-3 hours… no problems, then I start getting kicked every 30 seconds.

So… what exactly was I playing on for 3 hours if the EU server isn't open..????

Uninstall… download another 26gb of data, another 4 hours of downloads… install, play… 2-3 hours it's ok. Getting kicked again… every 30 seconds.

Besides playing on both US and EU servers… which both work btw… for 2-3 hours at least… gameplay is fine, smooth… no problems at all. Then this kicking/disc with unknown error…

Disabled firewall and external extrusion detection on router…
Disabled windows firewall…
Tried resetting router to factory settings and then the above…
Even tried screaming at my isp… they haven't repled yet though…

I'm with EE… the only thing they seem to have everything everywhere is useless fiber ethernet…

It's either EE or its Eso… but I can't work out which.

Austin: The random freezings can be remedied by closing the launcher while the main game is up. If that doesn't help, go to \My Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\UserSettings.txt and change RequestedNumThreads from -1 to 0.

Anyone know what the upload speed of the download server is? I have 38mbits of bandwidth, but atm, all I get is 4mbits of download. I was hoping that I'd get the download abit faster… Now have a backup of the EU server and downloading for the 5th time… a brand new install of the US server… downloaded around 1tb of eso today…

  When I downloaded ESO yesterday the max speed I saw was 1.8 MB/sec. It took about 6 hours to download the full game.
  
  1 Tb = 1000 GB. ESO occupies 30 GB of disc space. So if you are downloading it for the 5th time = 150 GB, not a Terabyte.

Played for about two hours, and now getting «unknown error» every 3-4 minutes. Right before I disc, nothing works — When I try to talk to someone, the dialogue box doesn't come up and when I try an attack, nothing happens. I'm only able to run and jump. Then eventually, I disconnect.

  What you're describing is a classic disconnection, the moment you can't talk or interact, is when you've disconnected… it can sometimes take minutes before your client actually disconnects to desktop.
  
  I'm getting the exact same thing atm, so in a way I'm happy that you're getting this as well. I played upto a lvl5… from new this morning… and now i am being disc'd every 30seeconds to 1-2 mins.
  
  Who is your isp? This could be testing being done on the server… but i'm still wondering if it is my isp to blame, i'm with EE.

    I've got Time Warner in NYC. I don't think its my ISP — I'm able to play many other games with no problem (Rift, AoC, GW2, The Secret World, and last weekend played the Wildstar beta, which was much more stable).
    
    I really hope this isn't a sign for what it will be like at launch. Other than the constant disconnects, I really do enjoy the game. I can tolerate all the bugged quests, as they are only slightly annoying, but continuous disconnects make this game unplayable for me. Just now I was able to play for three hours before my first disconnect. I logged back in and disced again within 30 seconds.

Well I've ran into a few snag ups. Firstly my game will halt completely or otherwise freeze if I try to watch the intro-movie to the game or if I skip that and move onto the next screen (I presume the in-game loading screen right before character selection and since I can never make it further...) secondly and this is occasionally but every so often an error message will appear on my screen so far I've only seen it 2 times but they were back to back so I ignored the second but sent a message with the first. Also there is another issue I've run into but being new to beta testing I'm not entirely sure its out of the norm… just if I owned this game it would be something of frustration to say the least… simply because its there and it shouldn't. Immediately after I hit enter to log in (after I enter my information of course) this sign appears on my screen that say «PLACEHOLDER» diagonally from the top left to the bottom right… Underneath of that the developer logos IE Bethesda with the square, and the game logo afterwords the game moves into the intro the placeholder mark will stay unless I skip the intro which brings me to the screen after that where eather the game has already lagged before I get to the next screen or shortly after. Either way I can not make a character or actually play the game to begin with. However the strangest thing happens… Regardless if I get the error message, the game freeze, or see the placeholder thing, the one thing that never dies off in the game or the launcher is the music until I manually close the game. That being said I'm lead to believe, while yes my computer sucks, its the game that's having issues not the computer. I can still run games like World of Warcraft with minimal issues so I figured I could do the same with this.

  check video drivers are uptodate also might be that your video card isn't supported yet. Sometimes betas don't support «all» cards Also the obvious one… check your monitor cable is connected properly at both ends.
  
  What I get is… click play… several screens of zenith and other company ads, which you can click through, this leads to character selection/generation and play. You can also access settings from the char select screen. Sounds like you aren't even getting there.

I am getting super annoyed. I downloaded the game yesterday and in the end it gave me «cannot download manifest». ok ok. I'm cool with that. Open launcher and it starts to install it AGAIN! 22gb again… well that takes about 5-7 hours again! I try to play! Success! Get into the game and boom nice evening. This morning I open the launcher again and it starts to download the game AGAIN! Wtf? I'm not going to wait 5-7 hours everytime I want to play this game! Ridiculous. I l know it's beta. I've seen my share of beta and alpha state games, been in hundreds closed betas and alphas, but this is some serious bullshit.

  I know it is really stressful.
  
  Open eso, goto the cog, top right, select drop down for US Server, do not select Eu Server.
  Close
  TBH… delete any ESO folds you have or rename them. for example I now have a full download of The Elder Scrolls Online (US Server) and The Elder Scrolls Online EU (EU Server)
  
  Then run the eso app again. Make sure US Server is selected and download.
  
  If you don't delete the folders or if you've access previous beta's, it might try to download to the orginal folder… you can end up with 200gb+ of data in the folder from continual repeated downloads… Everytime you go to play, you'll get error 9/10 which means uninstall, reinstall… or error 3 patch mismatch, unable to get version. Followed by Update where play is and clicking does nothing… you need to uninstall and reinstall. You can try to repair… but it's never worked for me.

    I think I will give up with this game.
    
    I did that and now it crashes when loading Stonefalls. At this state the game has ridiculous amount of crashes, bugs and others that really eats your nerves. Gaming is supposed to be fun and easy and in this case, remember that it is last beta and we are supposed to take pictures and maybe do some «marketing» of our own, it is not easy at all. Ofc there is bugs and stuff, but this… I can tell that I will not buy this or even recommend to anybody. I've had so much problems today (and yes, I tried to fix this the whole day, thanks for the dl times...) that I will just give up.
    
    The game itself is «fun» and nice for Elder Scrolls fans like me, but when game is making me angry and frustrated, I don't want to touch that game anymore. It's good when you get angry because of boss or what not, but if you get angry because installing the game? Not on my shopping list.
    
    We should remember that this beta was supposed to be kind of «advertisement» for people who are not in the beta. The population of beta will tell others how the «last beta went» and ofc all of this will go away just saying «it is just beta». Well, at this point the starting the game should be finished without some «tricks». Dl the launcher, install, play. Not DL the launcher, do some stuff, delete folders, dl again if it works good, if not again. Well, maybe it's just me but this beta was failure.
    
    In the end I want to wish the creators of this game and the players to have fun in the game. It's not bad but for me, let's see after 5 years when I have forgot this horrible beta.

      yeh, well i've put my money down on the pre order… i can only hope the issues are sorted before release.
      
      I haven't found many serious bugs in the game, just this one issue with getting kicked… i played on us server today for 5-6 hours without problems, then on the eu server for about an hour… now i can't go on either without getting kicked off again.
      
      I don't know if it's just bad luck or my isp messing around or if it's the game, my mates over in germany aren't getting kicked when i am, they have been ingame for last 10 hours without a single disc.

So this is driving me absolutely insane. Spent the extremely long time downloading this game, not to mention all the anticipation in trying to get a beta key. Finally when it's all downloaded and ready to go, I get kicked off during the first loading screen after logging in. Read quite a few comments here and can't see anything too similar to what's happening to me but still tried quite a few things. Pretty much in the middle of the loading screen the error window pops up and asks me to describe what was going on when the game crashed to which I reply «Loading screen» every time. After about 30 times and trying all I could find here I give up. Any help would be appreciated.

I am suck in Foundry of Wow, Lyris says, stand back, takes one swing and the rocks don't come down. I can not get out of the cave. I relogged about 5 times and then just gave up since the same thing happens repeatedly. The door I came through will not let me go thru it, its greyed out and when I log out and back in she is still in the same place. Apparently I am stuck forever here since there is no way out. I sent an in game bug report, but not sure you know I cannot go anywhere or do anything now.

Downloaded the patcher, waiting an entire day for the download of 22 damn GB, then i had to restart the computer… Now i have to download it all again.
I had to reboot the computer twice, but the first time the launcher saved the download progress, not the second time…

So the Restoring the Guardians quest has been bugged for pretty much the whole beta. And it's frustrating because it's supposedly a pretty important quest because I haven't found any other quests after it that are around the same level, so i'm having trouble advancing through because I'm not high enough level to continue with the other quests. There was even a quest telling me to go find the Restoring the Guardians quest! But too bad you can't complete it because it's broken. I've reported it about 5 times since Friday and now it's Sunday and still hasn't been fixed. It's pretty ridiculous how many quests and everything are still bugged on the last beta date, honestly. I hope they aren't stupid enough to release a broken game because that will just kill this game.

Maybe if bethesda get TES-V and applied MP to it it will works better… but it's only another boring MMORPG… and PAID… sorry bethesda/zenimax, but it wont work so well =/

Here's something thats annoying. If you delete the launcher, you have reinstall it (obviously) but you then have to completely download the entire 26gigs of game again. It won't just search your drives and then check the version and update it, it just starts installing it all over again.

Is this normal or is my graphic card over heating or something??

I don't know how to post an attachment but like I am playing..It's fine for some hours and then sometimes I start seeing black lines with red dots… Like in the sky..Or else like there are not enough frames..While walking a lot of things start moving!!!

Please help me and tell me that this comes from the Beta and not my computer...I just bought it and it has high specks! So it's impossible :(
